The 16th International FLAIRS Conference In cooperation with the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) 2003 Special Track on Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing Casa Monica Hotel St. Augustine, Florida May 11-15, 2003 Call for Papers The Special Track on "Recent Advances in Natural Language Processing" invites researchers from academia, government, and industry to submit papers reporting on recent advances in all aspects of Natural Language Processing, including but not limited to: - pragmatics, discourse, semantics, syntax, and the lexicon; - phonetics, phonology, and morphology; - text understanding and generation; - language-oriented information retrieval, question answering, summarization and information extraction; - language-oriented machine learning; - multi-lingual processing, machine translation; - natural language interfaces and dialogue systems; - electronic dictionaries; - knowledge acquisition; - text mining; - message and narrative understanding systems; - tools and resources; - evaluation of systems The conference also encourages submission of papers on applications of natural language processing in areas such as, biomedicine, finance, etc. We especially welcome any contribution to the area of language processing showing important developments in information technology. Submission Guidelines Authors must submit an electronic copy (ps or pdf) of their complete manuscript to the contact chair by October 25, 2002. All submissions must be original, previously unpublished work, and they should not exceed 10 double spaced pages. Also, the papers should not identify the author(s) (for details see FLAIRS-03 Paper Submissions at http://www.cs.uwp.edu/flairssubsys/index.php3) and be accompanied by a cover letter that indicates the contact authors, paper's title, and appropriate subject areas under which the paper can be classified. Notification of acceptance will be emailed around January 7, 2003. Authors of accepted papers will be expected to submit the final camera-ready copy of their full papers by February 17, 2003. Journal Publication The Editor-In-Chief of the International Journal on Artificial Intelligence Tools (IJAIT) will have a special issue of the journal devoted to FLAIRS-03. After the conference, authors of selected papers will be invited to submit revised versions of their papers for journal publication.
