INLG-96 Call For Participation 8th International Workshop on Natural Language Generation 13-15 June 1996 Herstmonceux, Sussex, UK INLG-96 is the eighth international workshop on Natural Language Generation. Recent workshops have been held at Catalina Island, California (1988), Dawson, Pennsylvania (1990), Levico, Italy (1992) and Kennebunkport, Maine (1994). In keeping with the tradition of these workshops, the venue for INLG-96 will provide a pleasant and relaxing setting for stimulating discussion and exchange of ideas. We actively solicit submissions of papers, posters, panels and demos on all aspects of natural language generation, including the following areas of research: * content selection * text planning * realisation * lexical choice * system architecture * multilingual or multi-modal generation * applications * learning methods * evaluation ...as well as relevant aspects of other areas as they relate to problems of natural language generation, such as: * grammar theory * statistical methods * speech synthesis * psycholinguistics * neuroscience * philosophy REGISTRATION To register for attendance please send, by 8th May 1996, your name, contact information (address, phone, fax, and email), and a statement of your interests in generation (between two paragraphs and a page, which will be used to help plan the meeting's events) to the address given below. The facilities at the workshop venue dictate that attendance be limited to approximately 70 participants. Should more people wish to attend than can be accommodated, attendance will be on a first come first served basis after preference has been given to those who submitted papers. SUBMISSION DETAILS Submissions for full papers may be up to 10 pages long (including title and references). Shorter poster submissions are encouraged for work that is not yet mature. Submissions for demos and panels are also welcome. All submissions should be produced in two column format with 1 inch margins using 11 point type. The title page should include complete addresses for the authors (including email and fax), a short summary of less than 200 words, subject keywords (preferably taken from the list given above), and a clear indication of the type of submission (paper, poster, panel or demo). Papers with several authors should indicate who is to handle correspondence. Authors should send four hard copies of their submission, printed on 8.5"xll" or A4 paper (double-sided if possible). An additional ascii copy of the title page should be sent by email.
