STAIRS-06 offers doctoral students and young AI researchers: * a first experience on submitting and presenting a paper in an international forum with a broad scope and thorough selection process * the opportunity to gather knowledge and exchange ideas related to their research problems and approaches * information on European research careers and mobility Location ======== The Symposium will be located at Palacongressi, Riva del Garda and it will be held jointly with ECAI-06. Further information about the location can be found at the URL: http://ecai2006.itc.it/ Topics ====== Submissions of original work and previously unpublished research in all fields of Artificial Intelligence, including but not limited to: Agents Automated Reasoning Belief Revision Case-based Reasoning Constraints Data Mining & Information Extraction Genetic Algorithms Human Computer Interaction Interactive Sensory Systems (Speech, Multi-Model Processing) Knowledge Representation Logic Programming Machine Learning Natural Language Processing Neural Networks Nonmonotonic Reasoning Planning & Scheduling Reasoning about Action and Change Robotics Search Semantic Web Spatial & Temporal Reasoning Uncertainty User Modelling Papers on AI applications such as Agent Oriented Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, Intelligent Databases, Distributed Knowledge Management, Service Oriented Computing (e.g. Grid, Semantic Web), Verification and Validation are also welcomed. Submission procedure ==================== Authors are asked to submit their paper by 15 April 2006 (23:59 CET). Submissions must not exceed twelve pages. Overlengthy or delayed submissions will be rejected without review. Moreover, the name(s), affiliation(s), and contact details of the author(s), should appear at the first page of the submitted paper. Review process ============== Papers should address significant research works undertaken by the authors. At least one of the authors must be a PhD student, or a person holding a PhD for less than a year. All submissions will be subject to academic peer review by the STAIRS'06 Program Committee. Each paper will be assigned at least two reviewers. Review criteria include originality of ideas, technical soundness, significance of results, and quality of presentation. Conference Proceedings ====================== The conference proceedings will be published and distributed by IOS Press. The authors will be responsible for producing camera-ready copies of papers, conforming to the STAIRS'06 formatting guidelines, for inclusion in the proceedings. The deadline for receipt of the camera-ready copy is May 20, 2006. For each accepted paper, at least one author, and most preferably one of the beginner researchers involved in the work, is required to register by the early registration date and to present the paper at the Symposium.
