August 2007 Submissions http://www.easychair.org/WIR2007/ Submissions need to follow the conference format: http://lwa07.informatik.uni-halle.de/vorlagen_en.htm Information Retrieval is a key technology in the modern knowledge society. The analysis and processing of non structured data is one of the most important challenges for the professional knowledge management. The importance of web search engines for users and information providers is increasing. The ubiquity of search systems has led to the application of information retrieval technology in numerous usage scenarios (e.g. mobile and international) and for specific object types (products, patents, videos, music, blogs). Innovative products need to revise common text book knowledge. The quality of information retrieval needs to be evaluated for each context. Large evaluation initiatives respond to these challenges and develop new benchmarks. The workshop Information Retrieval 2007 provides a forum for scientific discussion and the exchange of ideas. The workshop of the Special Interest Group for Information Retrieval within the German Gesellschaft für Informatik (GI) is part of the workshop series LWA "Learning, Knowledge and Adaptivity" at the University of Halle, Germany. This workshop continues a successful series of conferences and workshops of the special interest group on information retrieval (http://www.fg-ir.de). The workshop wants to attract both scientists as well as practitioners from industry and academia. Especially PhD and Master candidates are encouraged to participate.
